With body dimensions a little more filigree and daintier than a classic ES-style guitar, a guitar whose fascinatingly feminine lines attract your attention.
The design for this guitar was created by Ralf Martens:
"For me, beauty is not in complete symmetry, but in interesting details that invite you to linger. When you look at classic ES-style guitars, their body appears perfectly symmetrical. However, this symmetry is not preserved on the strap. Here it becomes clear what the aesthetic advantages of the slightly asymmetrical lines of the Marilyn are. By the way, the Marilyn also follows an important principle of my design: the feminine curved lines are not only to be found at first sight. You will continue to discover lines and exciting details in the Marilyn for a long time to come, some of which continue beyond the tangible wood base".
The final translation of this ingenious design into soft curves of mahogany, spruce (or maple) and ebony has been achieved by none other than Nick Page himself.
The basis of the Maybach Marilyn is its solid mahogany body and carved mahogany back, which is finished with a carved top of solid spruce or flamed maple, depending on your preferences.
At the height of the 17th fret, the body of the Marilyn meets a glued-in mahogany neck, which is adorned by a noble ebony fingerboard with 21 medium frets. The curved body with double cutaway guarantees best playability even in the higher positions.
In order to make this lush foundation sound good on your amplifier, the Maybach Marilyn is equipped with two hand-wound amber pickups, the sound of which you can tune using a classic three-way switch with the help of two poti knobs. The choice is the Amber Spirit of '59, which offers an authentic sound with a moderate output (7.2 KOhm at the neck, subtle overwound at 8.3 KOhm at the bridge).
